  7.   I have a new fax number: 303-651-1161 (Intel SatisFAXtion)
  8.  
  9.   The FAXPak BBS now has an Intel 14.4EX modem on line which allows baud
  10.   rates from 1200 to 14,400 (v.32bis).

  13. *** This minor update addresses the following items:
  14.  
  15.   ■ FPSTAT and FPMON recognize the newer Intel fax boards (200/400).
  16.  
  17.   ■ FPSEND now uses the newer, more efficient way of doing group sends. This
  18.     works when using the "FPSEND files @sendlist" mode. Instead of creating
  19.     a send event for EACH destination, a "group send" event is created which
  20.     results in less disk activity.
  21.  
  22.   ■ FPNEXT has a new option "-G" which will display each destination for
  23.     group send events. If you omit the "-G", only the group event is shown.
  24.  
  25. The newer Intel boards (200/400) come with a file translator that takes
  26. the place of EP2DCX.EXE. This new translator can convert the following
  27. file types:
  28.  
  29.     Epson FX85 print files
  30.     HP LaserJet print files
  31.     ASCII text files
  32.     ASCII text using compressed font size
  33.  
  34. This new translator is called PRN2FAX.EXE and is normally located in your
  35. C:\FAX directory. Here's how you might use this translator with FAXPak
  36. Utilities Advanced Edition:

  38.   ■  FPSEND myfile.txt 1-303-651-1161 -z "C:\FAX\PRN2FAX $I $O /A"
  39.  
  40.      This translates the ASCII file 'myfile.txt' into a DCX file (each
  41.      output DCX file gets a unique file name), then faxes the DCX file.
  42.      The "/A" option on PRN2FAX use the ASCII file translation.

  44.   ■  FPSEND myfile.pcl 1-303-651-1161 -z "C:\FAX\PRN2FAX $I $O /H"
  45.  
  46.      This translates 'myfile.pcl' (which must be a file containing HP LJ III
  47.      printer codes). The "/H" option on PRN2FAX indicates an HP translation.

  49. If you want to automatically DELETE the DCX files created by the translation
  50. process, include the FPSEND "-X" option.

  52. Using PRN2FAX allows you embed PCX images in your documents easily. See the
  53. Intel fax board manual for specifics.

  60. *** USING FAXPAK UTILITIES WITH INTEL NET SATISFAXTION
  61.  
  62.   In order to use FAXPak Utilities, FAXNODE must be loaded on the PC.
  63.   See Intel's documentation for specifics.

  66. *** LICENSE REQUIREMENTS FOR USERS OF INTEL'S NET SATISFAXTION
  67.  
  68.   All FAXPak Utilities are licensed for use on a single PC with a fax
  69.   card. If you are using Intel's Net SatisFAXtion product, you can
  70.   purchase a network license to use FAXPak Utilities Advanced Edition
  71.   on ALL PCs using a single Net SatisFAXtion fax server. The cost of
  72.   this special license is only $199.00! If you have more than two fax
  73.   users, you'll save big by purchasing the network license.

  75.   If you have multiple Net SatisFAXtion servers, you'll need to purchase
  76.   one FAXPak Utilities network license for each server.

  79. *** FAXPak Support BBS

  81.   The FAXPak Support BBS is online 24 hours a day at 303-772-6778 with
  82.   an Intel 14.4EX modem. This allows modem access from 1200 to 14,400
  83.   baud (v.32bis).

  86. *** PRINTING FAXPAK.DOC
  87.  
  88.   This file can be printed on most any printer. Lots of laser printers
  89.   print 60 lines per page then perform a page feed. If your printer does
  90.   this, change the lines per page to 66 prior to printing otherwise you
  91.   will get extra pages.

  94. *** IMPORTANT NOTICE ***
  95.  
  96. If you are using a SatisFAXtion board or if you are using a Connection
  97. Coprocessor with the "new" software (using CASMGR.EXE instead of CCAM.EXE)
  98. you need to be aware of a possible problem when faxing out large numbers of
  99. faxes.

  101. CASMGR.EXE AUTOMATICALLY starts deleting logged faxes once the number of
  102. log entries reaches 101. For example, if you set up a list of 150 faxes to
  103. be sent out over a weekend, when you return on Monday morning, you will
  104. find 101 log entries. The results of the first 50 faxes will be GONE!
  105. You can turn on the "history" option in your SETUP.EXE program, but the
  106. information saved in the history file is not as detailed as is found in
  107. the normal fax log.

  110.         Here's news about FAXPak Utilities version 5.2

  114. FAXPak now includes a program called FPCONFIG.EXE which changes the cut-off
  115. point for CASMGR.EXE. To run it, simply copy the program to the PC with the
  116. fax board and run it. It will display the current "cut-off" setting and you
  117. may then enter a higher number (for example 500). Once you have done that,
  118. you MUST re-boot to have the new cut-off point take effect.

  120. Note that users of CCAM.EXE DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS. In fact, FPCONFIG.EXE
  121. will simply report that it can't find CASMGR.CFG.

  123. User's of the newer Intel SatisFAXtion 200 and 400 will find they can
  124. change this number using the fax board SETUP program, "Advanced Setup",
  125. "Set up technical software options", "Number of log entries".

  127. Don't make the new setting ridiculously high. Try to set it to a number that
  128. suits your actual requirements. This does not change the fact that you should
  129. NOT leave log entries to build up very high. The more log entries that your
  130. fax board has to manage, the slower it will process.
